Episode 16 - “Autopilots”

February 2017

We explore the situations where a builder may consider installing an autopilot is a Sonex project, even though the Sonex is thought of as a rather "sporty" airplane. We’ll dig in to the details of the popular autopilot offering from Dynon Avionics.

Guest: David Webber. David plans-built Sonex #318 from 2002-2009, a standard gear with Jabiru 3300 power. He flew that airplane for 400+ hrs before ultimately selling it to fund his latest project. David’s day-job is working for Dynon Avionics as a Product Design Engineer, and so it was a natural fit for him to install the Dynon autopilot in his airplane. Based on that experience, David developed the Dynon install kits and documentation for the Sonex.
